Sessun

On Saturday I visited Supra boutique on London's Portobello road. They are currently stocking the French lable, Sessun. This label has been around for at least ten years, but has reinvented itself in the last two to be a little sister to Isabel Marant loving types. The prices are a bit smaller, but the style is still big, with garments to wear from the city to the countryside and back again. Pretty florals, chambray blues, greens and creams

Tatooed Lady 1961

For months now me and my boyfriend have been trying to find out which artist it was that painted the below picture, 'Tatooed Lady 1961'. I saw the artwork in Elle magazine based on Jade Jagger's home and we both really liked it. It was only reading up on Peter Blakes, Cloud print for Stella McCartneys exclusive collection for Net-a-porter that I found out that it was him who created this very cool piece of work!

Anges Barley

I really like Art which combines shapes with colour, this comes from my obession with collages first formed whilst on my BA Printed Textiles course. Artist Anges Barley creates paintings of watercolour cut outs which are fun pieces which give the feeling origami, folding and unfolding paper.

Influence

I recently purchased Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's 'Influence' book. It comprises conversations the sister's have had with artists, designers, photographers and writers from all over the world. I really like the layout and style of the book so already I have been influenced!

Bjorn Winblad

It was my birthday the other day and one of my favourite pressies was a ceramic April calendar plate designed and illustrated by Danish Artist Bjorn Winblad (1918-2006). I have been collecting his work for a few years now after discovering his designs at Couverture a London based store specialising in covetable one-off designer pieces for the home, European fashion collections for women, cute knitted toys and childrens clothing and accessories, as well as an ever changing flow of vintage finds.

The Way I See It - Raphael Saadiq

For those of you who are fans of 1960's - 1970's soul. It's worth you checking out Raphel Saadiq new ablum, The Way I See It. This is an ablum where Saadiq has looked on those who he admired when he was young, to rebirth soul music with interesting results!

Goodbye Mayle

I was sad to read that British born designer Jane Mayle will no longer be continuing with her Fashion line MAYLE. A friend of mine, London based designer Zakee Shariff introduced me to this label last year and I have been adoring it ever since. I will certainly look forward to Jane's next creative ventures.

Alexander Girard Prints

Walking around Brick Lane today I noticed a print similar to that of graphic textile designer Alexander Girard. He trained in architecture but he is best known for his textiles featuring stripes, circles, triangles and his love for Mexican folk art. It is the sense of fun that he brings to his prints that inspires me.

London Fashion Week - Central St Martins

I have been checking out the Fashion shows so far. And as a graduate from Central St Martins I always like to see what the college is producing. One student that stood out for me this year is Laura Mackness, the collection had an 80's come American Western theme, with cheeky trompe l'oeil prints. Below are a few examples from the show.

Fannying Around

Today I spent lunchtime chilling with a hot chocolate in the Concrete Cafe at the Hayward Gallery, whilst admiring the work of fashion illustrator, Julie Verhoeven. Julie has created collages of paper plates which combine both colour and painted faces. Here are a few pictures that I took from this small exhibtion on until the 9th March 2009.
